Lieutenant Jason Hutchens

Lieutenant Jason Hutchens is an ACTAR-accredited crash reconstructionist with extensive experience investigating and reconstructing serious injury and fatal motor vehicle collisions. He has conducted and supervised complex crash investigations involving passenger vehicles, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, and a wide range of collision scenarios.

With nearly two decades of experience in crash investigation and reconstruction, Lieutenant Hutchens has developed extensive expertise in the evaluation of physical evidence, vehicle damage analysis, collision dynamics, and the application of engineering principles to determine how crashes occur.

His advanced training includes collision investigation, crash reconstruction, roadway evidence examination, tire examination, safety belt analysis, vehicle lamp examinations, and other specialized areas of crash analysis through organizations including the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety (NUCPS), and the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM).

Lieutenant Hutchens is an ACTAR Accredited Crash Reconstructionist and has developed and instructed intermediate, advanced crash investigation, and crash reconstruction courses for investigators from multiple jurisdictions. His experience as both a reconstructionist and instructor provides a unique perspective focused on accurate analysis, clear documentation, and effective communication of complex collision dynamics.

His approach to reconstruction emphasizes scientifically supported methodologies, careful evaluation of available evidence, and practical analysis designed to provide a clear understanding of the factors contributing to a collision.
